Advanced to Round Three without Conceding a Goal
The Boleslav football team handled the role of a favourite and after the domestic victory they also beat the Iceland rival on their pitch. Magera scored the only goal in the game. The Akureyri team failed two penalties: Šeda deflected the first one and the second one went past the goal.
In the first half-time, the Boleslav footballers were more active: they hit eleven corner kicks and scored after the seventh one. However, the Akureyri players also set off for dangerous attacks.
Smejlak's head and Bořil's right foot brought no effect. Magera missed the goal, Mareš's centre was caught by goalkeeper Wicks, who also covered another ball shot by Mareš's corner kick. On the other side, Šeda deflected the weak shot by Aevarsson.
In the 31st minute, Mareš played the corner kick, Rolek's head shot was not strong enough but Magera got the ball and slipped it around the right pole behind the goal-line - 0:1.
In the 34th minute, Thór attacked on the left, Hannesson put stopper Rolek down and hit his arm by a low centre. The referee ordered a penalty kick. Aeversson headed for the left pole but Šeda got there in time and deflected the shot, as well as the following action.
In the second half-time, the Boleslav players kept an eye on the close lead and managed to advance from the second to the third preliminary round of the European League. The inability of the opponent to score a goal in the 52nd minute when Johann Hannesson totally missed the goal also helped them achieve the anticipated objective. Moreover, Thór played without a disqualified player in a team of ten for the last twenty minutes. The Boleslav team did not make use of their superiority in numbers; they focused on defending the close lead, which they managed.
Mareš tried to score a second goal in the 58th minute but Wicks deflected the penalty kick. Ondřejka's position looked promising in the 65th minute after cooperation with Sivrič but he lost the ball during dribbling. In the 72nd minute, three Boleslav players were attacking one opponent's back but this goal chance was not successful since nervous Ondřejka made a mistake. The most active striker towards the end of the game was Sivrič. However, he failed to score both in an individual attack and after Ondřejka's pass, which the back kicked to the corner, and lost the ball during dribbling after cooperation with Mareš.
