Koubek accepted defeat with dignity

Redakce

The end of Boleslav's hopes in the European competition was received with sadness and dignity by the coach Miroslav Koubek. In the meeting with journalists he stressed the opponent's qualities, and hinted at what the players of Boleslav lack to be more successful.

"Our target was to get them under pressure. In the first half-hour we did not have the quality needed to complete offensive action. The match was affected by the failure of Štohanzl's break and the goal scored afterwards. The first half ended quite contrary to what it was supposed to be," sighed the coach of Boleslav Miroslav Koubek. But in the next sentence he praised the team's moral, because it succeeded to reverse the result, even though it did not win in the end.
"I still think the match could have been quite a drama, but our rival gave a good fight, and succeeded to make maximum from minimum. There are players who can be very dangerous when provided enough space."
Koubek thinks Boleslav would have needed more vigour, routine work and better ideas to score more goals. "What we did not have was final creativity. Yet I have nothing to complain about, the players deserve my praise.
Do you blame Štohanzl for the missed chance before the end of the first half?
"No, I don't. This is simply football."

And what are you going to tell Janíček, who was behind the penalty kick in both matches against Larnaca?
"Well, he could be reprimanded in the first match, but he played a great game in the rematch, and the particular penalty situation was really an unfortunate moment."

Team of Larnaca enjoyed their advancement in the European League playoff. "We've achieved great result, and we are all very happy, players and the entire club," said Larnaca's coach Ton Caanen. "I think that not many people in Czechia have an idea of football in Cyprus and Larnaca. And we are very proud to have beaten the winner of Czech Cup, Mladá Boleslav."
