Chramosta shoots Baník down

Redakce

The Boleslav players gained a very important three points on a heavy pitch in the Bazaly stadium in Ostrava. Boleslav forward Jan Chramosta was clearly the star of the match. He scored twice and hit the post once but the win was unequivocally the result of the entire team who worked tirelessly at their defensive tasks and supported each other successfully. With three rounds remaining until the end of this season, Mladá Boleslav is again back in the race for second position which guarantees promotion into a preliminary round of the Champions League.

The opening kickoff was delayed because of a torrential downpour from heavy clouds accompanied by claps of thunder and lightning strikes. It led to the match getting underway on a considerably soaked surface as the rain continued to fall. The Boleslav players adapted to the conditions better and the light-footed Chramosta predominated. He cheekily stepped around the Ostrava defender Neuwirth after receiving a pass from Papadopulos and beat the outstretched reach of the goalkeeper Buček in the 7th minute with a clever strike inside the left-hand post from the edge of the penalty area - 0:1.

In the 15th minute, Chramosta and Papadopulos' quickly exchanged passes saw them threaten the defence but the final ball into the penalty area from Chramosta was just behind Papadopolus' heels. Buček then fumbled a shot by Chramosta and Kysela was there to turn the ball into the unprotected net, however he was adjudged to be in an offside position and the goal was disallowed in the 24th minute keeping Baník in the game for the time being.

When the players returned from the dressing rooms after the break the rain had stopped but the pitch remained heavy. This may have worried some but it was clearly not the case for Chramosta. He quickly demonstrated this with the first action of the second half. Sylvestre squared the ball and the eighteen year old striker outran Neuwirth before lobbing the ball over a helpless Buček in the 47th minute - 0:2.

The Ostrava goalkeeper collected Chramosta in his follow through and the forward had to be carried off on a stretcher and treated for a painful shin injury.

The Ostrava team luckily survived an attack by Boleslav involving Chramosta, Sylvestre and Poláček in the 64th minute. Boleslav had another tremendous scoring chance five minutes later, but neither Pecka nor Chramosta managed to find the net after a close range shot from Kysela. The referees again stopped a promising attack by Boleslav because of Kúdela being in an alleged offside position in the 75th minute, but it was not true.

Chramosta again beat Neuwirth with ease in the 76th minute but his precise left footed shot saw Buček time his leap to perfection and turn the ball around his right-hand post. Less than five minutes had elapsed before Opiela threaded a pass through to Chramosta who was being pulled back illegally by Tomašák and allowed Buček to collect the ball in front of the striker, but the referee failed to punish the Ostrava defender. Chramosta again ran through the opponents defence three minutes from time but his shot from an acute angle cannoned off the far post of the Ostrava goal beyond the helpless keeper. He was only a few centimetres from a league hat-trick...
