Bolka remains without a spring win
Mladá Boleslav continued suffering even in the fourth match of the spring season and České Budějovice confirmed the reputation of the tie king of the Gambrinus League. The goalless draw is another disappointment for Mladá Boleslav in their bid for participation in the European Cup. The Budějovice team presented very well organized playing. The Dynamo players defended carefully and set out for dangerous attacks. The Boleslav players focused too much on avoiding conceding an easy goal and the necessity to close the gap on their rival like in the three preceding league matches. They performed unexpectedly nervously and inaccurately.
The Budějovice players took six corner kicks during the first half and three of them even in the opening quarter. The first one diverted by Mendy at the closer post in the 11th minute was the most dangerous of them. From the Boleslav side, a free kick by Poláček in the 13th minute was aimed directly in the goalkeeper’s gloves and Sylvestre shot another free kick over the crossbar in the 20th minute. The Boleslav team narrowly avoided catastrophe at the beginning of the second half. Only fifteen seconds passed and an unexpected shot by Benát hit the post of Miller’s goal. Benát and Hílek then sent only weak shots at the Boleslav goal in the next attacks.
The Boleslav players ran a considerable risk in the final minutes. They reduced their defence line to three players and tall Rolko moved forward. M. Sedláček tried to find his head with a fine centre pass, but the stopper Horejš got to the ball sooner. The siege on the Budějovice goal was unsuccessful; none of the Boleslav shots penetrated through the concentrated defensive in the net. České Budějovice took a league point from Mladá Boleslav for the first time.
