Boleslav shoots to the lead in the Gambrinus liga
The Boleslav team was the front-runner in a match between the third and tenth placed teams of the current Gambrinus liga standings. This combined with a sunny Sunday afternoon to promise an interesting show. Procházka opened the scoring with a goal arriving on the half hour mark. Kalina and Pecka joined him after the break. Mladá Boleslav scored three times for the first time this season. A successfully taken Příbram penalty did not stop Boleslav from jumping to the top of the Gambrinus liga.
The Boleslav players had the game under control from the first minute. Řezníček came close to scoring in the first attack but was unsuccessful, as was Kalina shortly after.
Boleslav’s dominance was confirmed with a deserved goal in the 30th minute. Mendy was fouled after a penetrating run along the right-hand line and Poláček took the resulting free kick. Procházka met his centred cross with a glancing header and the ball found the back of the net – 1:0.
The Příbram players responded to the goal with a shot by Borek that was saved by Miller on the second attempt. Mendy and Kalina produced a swift counter-attack in the 39th minute but their effort went unrewarded
The second half started with a lively Boleslav team, however it was Příbram who created a huge chance in the 49th minute against the run of play. Kalina made a goal-line clearance ahead of the onrushing Bolek but his header fell to Fantiš who, fortunately for the Boleslav defence, missed the goal.
Řezníček pushed through the Příbram defence in the 61st minute. The defenders forced him wide to reduce the shooting angle but he found Kalina on the edge of the box with a delightful back heel. Kalina’s shot from the penalty area flew across the goalkeeper Michalík who’s desperate touch could not prevent the ball finding the net for the second time – 2:0.
A Peaceful afternoon with the Boleslav team heading towards three points was interrupted by the Příbram skipper in the 77th minute. Poláček and Klesa fell inside the penalty area after a running battle, and the referee booked the Boleslav player and ordered a penalty. Miller could do nothing to stop the well taken kick and Huňa scored – 2:1.
It looked like a traditionally dramatic finish to the game was in store but parity resumed after only six minutes. Procházka passed the ball behind the Příbram defence and Kysela remained cool and lobbed the ball over the onrushing keeper only to see his shot hit the crossbar in the 83rd minute. Pecka was the first to react and his header found the goal, the place where it should have already been, according to the opinion of most of the spectators present in the Mladá Boleslav stadium – 3:1.
Papadopulos outsmarted both Müller and Michalík with his sidestep inside of the Příbram penalty area but he hit his shot at the legs of the goalkeeper instead of scoring an unattended goal in the 87th minute.
