Close win after crushing dominance

Redakce

The Boleslav players had to do without Pecka who suffered an injury during a training session. But Michal Papadopulos showed his scoring skills in front of the Boleslav crowd for the first time: scoring the winning goal after being teed up by Poláček in the 65th minute. The attack started on the left with an elegant pass from Sylvestre to Poláček. The Boleslav players deserved their win as they dominated the match, their dominance continuing to grow the further the match moved into the second half. In spite of this fact, the fear of not taking all the points lasted until the final whistle as they missed plenty of scoring chances, their nerves constantly tested by Žůrek lurking on the offside line. Contrary to the last duel between the sides, he did not manage to score this time.

The Boleslav players pushed into attack from the beginning, but the Zlín goalkeeper Baránek could keep calm for long periods. Zlín took the first corner kick when Janíček diverted a centred pass by Malár in the 5th minute. Poláček ended the opening quarter with a weak and imprecise shot from the edge of the penalty area. Sylvestre shot much harder two minutes later but he missed the target, too.

Rajnoch was closer to scoring. His nicely struck shot from more than thirty meters out hit a post and unfortunately rebounded to the defensive. Zlín’s forward Kroupa tried to get in a scoring position after a centred pass be Malár but Procházka managed to mark him successively. Papadopulos took a lob from Sylvestre behind the Zlín defence seven minutes before the break but he failed to get a shot off.

The dominance of the Boleslav team was overwhelming at times. The Zlín defence managed to hold out until the 65th minute. Sylvestre found an unmarked Poláček excellently who crossed the ball low from the left-hand side and Papadopulos managed to score – 1:0. The Zlín players should have created a scoring chance in the 62nd minute when Sylvestre lost the ball but the Boleslav stoppers, in Janíček and Procházka, did not let themselves be overcome by Vrtělka who tried to find Kroupa.

Above all a fresh Vyskočil and Žůrek annoyed the Boleslav defence during the last twenty minutes. Fortunately for Boleslav, the fast break attacks of Žůrek were repeatedly stopped by the referee’s assistant for offside positions and a reliable save by Miller in the 87th minute. Miller had also saved a smashing shot by Šmahaj in the 83rd minute and then saved a header from Kroča in the second last minute of the match.
