Boleslav Lose against Žižkov for the Second Time
Retaliation was unsuccessful. The Boleslav team lost the return match against their rivals from Žižkov. One goal from a Moughfire shot, Boleslav’s autumn executioner, was sufficient enough to seal the win after it took a lucky deflection and fell to Kalod, unlucky for Boleslav. Despite the fact that the Žižkov players were hard at the ball and player, often outside the rules, leaving the Boleslav players battered, bruised and in pain, there were not any bookings during the match. The defeat knocked Mladá Boleslav down to seventh position in the final standings of I. Gambrinus liga 2007/08.
Mladá Boleslav was the more active team in the first half and even an ankle injury that forced Táborský to be substituted by league rookie Schubert did not change this fact.
Kysela finished a nice attack after Schubert and Rajnoch combined with a shot that was parried by the Žižkov goalkeeper Bartalský before Řezníček fired the ball in the net in the 20th minute. However, the referees unreasonably ruled he was in an offside position.
The Boleslav team started quickly after the break but they did not trouble the Žižkov goalkeeper. As the game approached the final whistle the Žižkov players started to push in front of the Boleslav goal with more purpose. Kopic stopped a driving Švancara, Šeda then caught Švancara’s centred pass to Stracený, before a header by Kalod from Stracený’s centred pass just cleared the right-hand post of the Boleslav goal.
Moughfire shot after a corner kick and Kalod directed the ball behind the back of Šeda after the resulting scrummage in the 77th minute – 0:1.
The play stayed in front of the Žižkov goal during the final stages which included four extra minutes for time added on. A free kick taken by Poláček saw Rajnoch have a chance to steal a point but he shot over the crossbar while being pressed by a defender. Kalina earned a corner kick which saw the goalkeeper Šeda appear in the Žižkov penalty area. However, nothing came of it and Žižkov held on to narrowly defeat Boleslav.
