Redakce

It took four long months for the stands of the Municipal Stadium in Mladá Boleslav to hear a victorious yell. A major contribution to the joy came from Jakub Řezníček, whose two goals within a mere ten minutes defeated the Budějovice goalie, giving the shooter the two first good shots in his career. The Boleslav managed to keep and defend their victory, regardless of being one man short after minute 85, when stopper Procházka was sent off. The opposing team were aiming at Boleslav’s seventh position in the cup standings.

The home team opened the match in their own manner of this season. They led the game as early as in minute 4. Kysela sent a high pass in front of the Budějovice goal just in time for Řezníček to appear in the goal area and shoot past Kučera, scoring his first Cup goal – 1:0.

Minute 32 saw the Budějovice team score their first point, bringing an equaliser to life. Ševinský turned Vozábal’s high pass towards the corner. That played, the Boleslav were able to build some defence for a while, yet Mrkvička caught a pass in the corner of the penalty area, created a high shot to mark the further corner of Miller’s goal – 1:1.

In the 38th minute, the Boleslav players showed extraordinarily cooperation. Hodúr tackled an opponent in the midfield, passed the ball to Rajnoch, who sent the airy shot beyond the Budějovice line of defence. Hodúr gained momentum and approached the ball, penetrating the penalty area in the process. At the moment everyone was expecting him to shoot, he passed the ball to Řezníček, who had an easy job of delivering the ball into the open net. That goal meant that Boleslav were, for the second time in the match, in the lead – 2:1.

At the very end of the first half, Miller thwarted a clear chance Stráský had by making a bold dive under the striker’s feet.

Suspense was in the air near the end even before Boleslav stopper Procházka was rather too strictly judged and sent off after stopping Dolejš not too far from the home penalty area. Many subsequent charges by Budějovice ended in repeated off-side situations. Poláček buried Boleslav’s hopes for a two-goal lead. Hrdlička sent him off into a sneak behind the opponent lines, Poláček avoided the defending Kučera, yet he completely missed the right moment for a good ending. He made a running pass to teammate Mendy. However, returning to his guardian position, the visiting goalkeeper managed to cover the ball. The score from the first half endured even the four-minute overtime.
