Football Players Are The Best Athletes of the Mladá Boleslav Region

Football governs Mladá Boleslav. This fact was confirmed by the 2006 Mladá Boleslav region best athlete poll. The members of FK Mladá Boleslav have won three of the four main categories. Marek Matějovský has become the best athlete, Dušan Uhrin the best coach and the first-league football team the best sports team.

The football domination is apparent in the main category of athletes. There are four football players among the best five athletes. Only Kateřina Novotná, the international short-track skater from Benátky nad Jizerou, on the third position disturbed the football occupation of the prestigious poll. Marek Matějovský has won the category and defended his primacy from the last year. Marek Kulič was ranked on the second, Luboš Pecka on the fourth and Miroslav Miller on the fifth position. And so, quite logically, the first- league football team has won the category of sport teams ahead of the Mladá Boleslav floorball and ice-hockey teams. And the first position of Dušan Uhrin before Míla Venera also was not a surprise. When compared with the last poll, these two football coaches only exchanged positions.
The 2006 Mladá Boleslav region best athlete poll was organized, like in preceding years, by the editorial board of Boleslavský deník (Boleslav Daily). The organizers have set up the final standings on the basis of two polls, i.e. the first one organized among general public and the second among sports experts. Ceremonial announcement of the results of the poll and awarding took place in Tuesday evening on February 27, 2007 in the main hall of the Škoda Auto Museum in Mladá Boleslav in presence of both sports and public celebrities of the Mladá Boleslav region.

Jiří Polnický (Empella) - cyclo-cross, 7. Petr Bartoš (Mladá Boleslav) - auto-cross, 8. Kateřina Černíková (AŠ Mladá Boleslav) - swimming, 9. Jiří Kadlec (BK Mladá Boleslav) - ice-hockey, 10. Petr Martinec (Deltacar Benátky nad Jizerou) - badminton.
