Mladá Boleslav football club was awarded in the ranking of the best athletes of Central Bohemia for just ending 2006. The club was ranked on the third position behind the second team of basketball players from Nymburk and the crew of water slalom racers Volf-Štěpánek in the category of teams.

The gala evening with awarding the best athletes from the Central Bohemian region took place in Škoda Auto Museum in Mladá Boleslav in the evening on Tuesday, December 19, 2006. The chairman of the Council of Central Bohemia, Petr Bendl, and other members of the Council of the Central Bohemian region were present. The president of the club, Josef Dufek and one of the players, Marek Matějovský, took over the award on behalf of Mladá Boleslav football club. The players of Mladá Boleslav broke through on the second position of the final standings of 2005/06 Gambrinus League thanks to successful spring performances, which qualified them in a pre-qualifying round of the Champions League. They did not manage to overcome Galatasaray Istanbul and to reach the main stage of the competition, however, the club eliminated Olympique Marseille sensationally in the first round of the UEFA Cup and qualified in one of the eight basic groups of the UEFA Cup. The team has not qualified in the spring stage of the cup. FK Mladá Boleslav is ranked on the fourth position after the autumn part of this season of 2006/07 Gambrinus League with a chance to defend the right for participation in a European cup. The club qualified in the spring quarterfinals of the domestic ČMFS cup. "This year has been successful," resounds in the club premises of FK Mladá Boleslav. And an echo resounds in many ears: "...but it could be even better." Yes, it could, but we should not be disappointed: let us be delighted in all achievements!
