Sedláček Arranged Advancement in the Inland Cup
Mladá Boleslav is through to the fourth round of the ČMFS Cup after a close win arranged by Tomáš Sedláček shortly after the break. With an exception of the first quarter hour, Mladá Boleslav was a better team. Unfortunately, it did not convert its chances and therefore the players were afraid about the result until the last minute. After advancing in the match with the division team of Letohrad, Mladá Boleslav will now encounter second-league Hradec Králové.
The division team of Letohrad started the Cup duel considerably more actively so it was no surprise that most of the first quarter hour took place on the Boleslav's half of the pitch. For half an hour Mladá Boleslav was searching for its game style and when it slowly gained the upper hand at the end of the first half the goalkeeper Kučera had to face the greatest chance of the first half. Three minutes before the break Ševinský slipped in an innocent action, did not hit an easy ball and straight away there was going to be the trouble. Letohrad's "scorpio" Gerža was heading alone for the goal but did not outsmart experienced Kučera. Yet, he did not hesitate, ran out timely and deflected the shot to a corner kick. Gerža also endangered the Boleslav's goal in the 34th minute but his shot over the head did not even fit between the posts. The Mladá Boleslav's players Sedláček, Pecka and Ordoš were in the hints of scoring opportunities but none of them beat Letohrad's Kykal.
The league favourite entered the second half with more vigour. After Sedláček was knocked down in the 48th minute Ordoš shot a penalty kick but only hit the crossbar. In the 54th minute after a pass by Ševinský from the right line Sedláček handled the ball in the penalty area and placed it on the ground to the Letohrad's right post, from which the ball bounced into the net -0:1. Even though Mladá Boleslav's players had plenty of opportunities to emphasize their leading in the next minutes none of their chances turned out to a goal. In the second half, the Letohrad's team was not up to the game with their condition, in spite of that they worked up a few offensive chances. Five minutes before the end Kuchta was closest to hoped-for equalizing. Kuchta's header, which came after Hynek's center, was deflected to a corner kick by goalkeeper Kučera, who saved his team from unnecessary difficulties for the second time. The corner kick ratio (7:4 for Letohrad) proves that the division team was a capable opponent for the league Mladá Boleslav. On the other hand, Mladá Boleslav was better in all other football skills. Although the goal difference was just one goal, it was enough for the advancement.
