At the past weekend, the French league has seen a surprise at the expense of Olympique Marseille, the rival of Mladá Boleslav in the first Round of the UEFA Cup. Olympique Marseille lost for the first time in this season unexpectedly in Nantes for which, on the contrary, it was the first win. In spite of the loss, Olympique Marseille holds the second place in the French league table, which is leaded by so far unbeaten defending champion Olympique Lyon. At the moment, Mladá Boleslav has a better position than its French rival for it still leads the Czech league without a loss.

Nantes vs. Olympique Marseille (2:1), a top-class match in the seventh round of the top French league, took place on Sunday evening before thirty-five thousand audiences. The home outsider Nantes had not once won in the previous six matches and had only three points for three draws. However, against Marseille the team put on a good show and took a two-goal lead. Marseille's Niang reduced the score in the 78th minute by a nice shot from eighteen metres. Bamogo, the scorer of the only goal in the Cup match with Mladá Boleslav, was not in the opening line-up and came into play only during the second half.
