Narrow defeat a hope for reprisal
The home coach didn't play four players of the core team (Ribery, M'Bama, Niang and Cana). The fifth missing player was dissociated Zubar. Mladá Boleslav entered the match at its best strength, i.e. in the currently strongest possible line-up. Marseille-based coach Emon used the 4-3-3 offensive playing system against 4-4-2 deployment by Uhrin.
The introductory activity of the home team was spoilt by a poorly aimed shot by Pagis and Boleslav-based goalkeeper Miller, who jumped under Maoulida's legs. Vaculík missed his volley standing in a great position after a centre pass from Kulič in the seventh minute. The tactical intentions of Mladá Boleslav were surely upset by Brezinský's injury, who gave up in the 13th minute due to muscle troubles. Mauoulida and Bamogo employed Boleslav's defence most. In the 22nd minute, Miller stopped Bamoga and in the 27th minute Rajnoch stopped Maoulida. In the 32nd minute, Bamogo got through the Boleslav's defence and scored without wavering - 1:0. In the 42nd minute, Kulič went from right to the home team's goal but the goalkeeper saved. "If I had scored, the match would have looked different," regretted Uhrin. In the last minute of the first half, after Matějovský's hesitation, Maoulida threatened again but missed the goal. In the second half, Mladá Boleslav did not have any serious goal chance. Uhrin admitted that the too complicated game of his wards was to blame. On the other hand, Miller had a lot of work with shots by Bamoga, Pagis and switched Cana. The last ten minutes Boleslav had only 10 players because the right fullback Ševinský was yellow carded for the second time and had to leave the field. Immediately after the match, Uhrin announced: "At home, we are capable of scoring twice to move on."
