Kulič: One Must Even Die for the National Team

Football fans could read immediate impressions of the skipper of the Mladá Boleslav team and fresh international player Marek Kulič in most media, both traditional printed and Internet ones after the qualifying match between the Czech Republic and Wales 2:1. Kulič was a member of the opening line-up in his second start for the national team and struggled tirelessly alongside experienced Jan Koller. Kulič fascinated football fans by his performance and consequent statement that a player must even die in the national team shirt.

The Saturday's victorious match against Wales was enormously exhausting for the striker of the Czech national team Marek Kulič. The head-coach Karel Brückner said about him that he had exhausted over the capacity of his forces, however, in spite of this fact, the untiring forward would prefer staying on the pitch till the end. As Kulič said journalists, he was totally exhausted before substituting but added immediately that one had even to die for the national team. "You sprint for attack and then you must return back. Sometimes it happens that you return back and must attack just immediately. One wants to take a rest but it is not possible," the forward of Mladá Boleslav emphasized. "And this was for sweating blood," he added.
Even if he was at the end of his rope, he did not ask for substituting. "But the coach himself saw that I had spoiled some passes because of fatigue. Moreover, he said me before the match to fight as much as possible and that nobody can withstand at full blast for the complete ninety minutes. And I was totally exhausted at substitution already," stated the thirty years old player. But he missed celebration on the pitch after both scored goals because of substitution. "We celebrated them all together later so that I did not miss so much," added Kulič.
Congratulations started to come to his mobile phone one after another just after the end of the match. "There were many congratulations which is certainly pleasant. They congratulated me on excellent performance and the title of the Man of the Match or like they called it," said the player who created a new forward couple with Jan Koller with a smile.
They understood each other very well in playing. "Honza is an excellent player. But it became several times that he returned ball to me and I overslept for a moment and missed the ball for a bit," said Kulič.
He kills time till the Wednesday match in Slovakia by playing cards with his national team-mates. "I play together with Karel Piták, Marek Matějovský and Štajny. Tomáš Zápotočný also used to play with us but he did not play well. He lost quite a lot of money so that Jirka Štajner substituted him. Honza Koller would like to play with us but he must stay waiting so far," said Kulič.
