The head-coach of the national team Karel Brückner count on Marek Kulič for the first two matches of the qualification group for the 2008 European Championship. The skipper of Mladá Boleslav is in nomination of the basic nineteen-player squad to those three more players will be added by Brückner. Kulič is one of four players playing in the domestic top competition.

The keeper Jaromír Blažek and defensive players Tomáš Sivok (both Sparta Prague) and Tomáš Zápotočný (Slovan Liberec) are nominated together with Marek Kulič (FK Mladá Boleslav) from the 1st Gambrinus League. Petr Čech (Chelsea), Antonín Kinský (Ramenskoje), Marek Jankulovski (AC Milán), Martin Jiránek, Radoslav Kováč (both Spartak Moskva), David Rozehnal (Paris St. Germain), Tomáš Ujfaluši (Fiorentina), David Jarolím (Hamburk), Tomáš Galásek, Jan Polák (both Nuremberg), Tomáš Rosický (Arsenal), Libor Sionko (Glasgow Rangers), Jaroslav Plašil, Jan Koller (both Monaco), Jiří Štajner (Hannover) are the other nominated players. The skipper of FK Mladá Boleslav, Marek Kulič, found himself in a really honourable football society!

The national players will meet immediately after the fifth league round on Monday, August 28. The Czech team will meet Wales in the stadium in Teplice on Saturday, September 2, at 8.15 p.m. and Slovakia in Tehelné pole stadium in Bratislava on Wednesday, September 6, also at 8.15 p.m.
