The Ostrava team surprised the Boleslav players with two first half goals, stopping their winning autumn campaign, cancelling their invincibility at home and forfeiting their second place in the Gambrinus liga. The Boleslav players unsuccessfully tried to reverse the unfavourable score line in the second half, but failed to capitalise on some big chances and wasted many attacks with misplaced passes.

The Boleslav players were lively during the opening 15 minutes but they failed to pick up an unmarked Mičola at the back post from a corner taken by Otepka in the 17th minute. Unopposed, the Ostrava forward easily sent the ball into the unattended part of Miller’s goal – 0:1.

The goal unsettled Boleslav which was reflected in the inaccuracy of their link play for the rest of the first half, and for that reason, they were unable to surprise and overcome the Ostrava defence. One of the few exceptions was a smashing shot by Kalina from twenty-five metres in the 23rd minute which forced a difficult save from the Ostrava goalkeeper.

In the last minute of the first half Svěrkoš rushed into the Boleslav penalty area and was pulled down by the defender Janíček. The referee ordered a penalty kick without hesitation and Otepka stepped up and took it with certainty – 0:2. The first half then ended immediately.

The score in the second half remained unchanged. Rajnoch missed the target from an advantageous position shortly after the break and Pecka weakly headed a nice centred pass from Mendy towards goal but found the goalkeeper Buček alert to the danger in the 50th minute. A shot by Janíček cleared the crossbar of the Ostrava goal after a well taken free kick by Poláček. In the 60th minute Papadopulos even managed to get in behind the goalkeeper during an attack in the Ostrava penalty area but his shot was weak and the defender Řezník cleared the ball of the goal line. Kalina surprised Buček with a lob aimed to the far post in the 72nd minute but the keeper managed to tip the ball over the crossbar at the last moment. Táborský missed a shooting opportunity in the 84th minute and could not find an open teammate with his return pass across the goal line.

The Ostrava players sat back in a defensive formation and waited for break opportunities. Lička tried attacking along the left wing and Svěrkoš was a continuous threat on the Boleslav goal. Střihavka went closest to extending the lead in the 86th minute when he ran in alone against Miller after beating the offside trap but the Boleslav goalkeeper saved his solo effort. The Ostrava team ended the match with ten men after Lička was sent off in the 88th minute, but this did nothing to stop the win.
